1. Rinse Lightly
Use a hose with low pressure to rinse off loose dirt and debris. Never use a pressure washer.
2. Apply Roof Cleaner
Spray your dedicated soft top cleaner generously across the fabric. Let it sit for a few minutes to loosen dirt and oils.
3. Agitate With a Soft Brush
Use a soft detailing brush to gently scrub in small circles. Focus on seams, edges, and visibly stained areas. Don’t press too hard — let the cleaner do the work.
4. Rinse Thoroughly
Use clean water to rinse away all product and grime. Make sure no cleaner is left behind, as residue can cause marks.
5. Dry Carefully
Use a microfibre towel or air blower to remove excess water. Let the roof dry fully before applying any protectant.
6. Apply Fabric Protector (Optional but Recommended)
Once dry, apply a convertible roof protectant to restore waterproofing and UV resistance. This helps maintain colour, repel dirt, and prevent mildew.
To clean your convertible soft top safely, you’ll need:
Soft bristle detailing brush
pH-neutral fabric roof cleaner (approved for soft tops)
Microfibre cloths or towels
Convertible roof protectant/sealant (for waterproofing)
Bucket and clean water
Optional: cordless air blower for quick drying
Avoid household cleaners, high-pressure washers, or stiff brushes — they can damage the roof fabric.
For most convertible owners, we recommend a light clean every 2–4 weeks, and a deep clean and protection treatment every 3–4 months — especially before and after winter storage.
Unlike the metal bodywork of your car, a soft top roof (usually made from canvas, vinyl, or fabric composites) is exposed to weather, bird droppings, tree sap, and road grime — and it doesn’t clean up as easily.
If left untreated, dirt and moisture lead to:
Mould and mildew growth
Faded or discoloured fabric
Water leaks and reduced weatherproofing
Permanent staining or material degradation
That’s why proper cleaning isn’t just about looks — it’s about protecting your investment.
